Type Locality and Naming
The type section is located in Yuecan 1 Well, 83° 04' E, 40° 51' N, northeastern Tarim Basin, Xinjiang and named by Huang (1984). The original Manjiaer Formation refers to the Triassic system in the Aman Depression, which can be divided into the lower, middle and upper three groups. Dong (1990) named the three groups as the upward succession of the Ketuer Fm, Akekule Fm and Halahatang Fm respectively.

Lithology and Thickness

Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
The conglomerate at the bottom is in unconformable contact with the underlying Paleozoic
Upper contact
At the top, it is in pseudo-integrated contact with the overlying Lower Cretaceous.
